About
The Club was formed in 1972 and the founders were Jean and Jim James together with Betty and Len Maisey. Len Maisey is still a member today. The anchor represents Dagenham Docks where most of the members worked at that time and the crossed keys was the name of the local pub.
We are a very friendly mixed club where members will encourage newcomers be they elderly or young. Youngsters can start at the age of 10 and we have members who have reached their 90s. We have two qualified coaches who are on hand to give help and advice if needed.
The club has an excellent pavilion with outstanding catering facilities. It is used for social events throughout the season and occasionally during the winter months.
Our season runs from the end of April to the end of September and caters for all standards of bowling. Novices and young players are very welcome and will be given the appropriate advice by our qualified coaches. We can accommodate wheelchair users who may wish to learn and take part in the game of bowls. We were able to purchase a bowls wheelchair due to the kind generosity of Awards for All. The annual membership fees are very modest. Any information required can be obtained from the Club Secretary.
